| Grech |
This is the second Big Ten Player of the Week honor of Grech's career and the first for the Maize and Blue this season. She also earned the honor the week of Sept. 19, 2000, and she is now the only Wolverine to receive the defensive honor twice in a career.
Grech's shutout over Purdue was her seventh of the season (six solo, one shared) and tied her for the U-M single-season shutout record held by Carissa Stewart (1997-2000). Grech has recorded solo shutouts against Dayton (1-0), Iowa (1-0), Northwestern (2-0), Wisconsin (1-0) and Ohio State (4-0) and shared the shutout against Detroit (4-0). Grech, who is 8-3 this season, has made 61 saves for a .836 save percentage and has a 1.19 goals-against average.
The Wolverines (8-5, 6-2 Big Ten) conclude a three-game Big Ten homestand by hosting Minnesota on Friday (Oct. 19) at 4 p.m. at the U-M Soccer Field.
