Pankratz Named NFHCA West Region Coach of the Year

Michigan's run the national championship game included a win at fifth-ranked Wake Forest, while the Wolverines' Big Ten Tournament title included victories over fourth-ranked Penn State and third-ranked Iowa.
In just her fourth year as head coach at Michigan, Pankratz has already earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors (1997) and guided the Maize and Blue to a Co-Big Ten regular-season championship (1997) in addition to Michigan's vast accomplishments in 1999.
Pankratz, a two-time U.S. Olympian as a member of the U.S. National Field Hockey team (1988-1996), is 38-23 all-time at Michigan and has engineered the only three seasons in Michigan history with at least 15 wins (1997-98-99).
Pankratz is one of five finalists for the 1999 Dita/NHFCA Division I National Coach of the Year, which will be announced at the NHFCA Awards Luncheon on Jan. 8, 2000, in Baltimore, Md.
