Michigan to Continue Utah Swing

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team (0-0-1) will continue its swing through the state of Utah with a matchup against Utah State (0-1-0) on Sunday (Aug. 16) at 7 p.m. MT. The match will be streamed live on the Pac-12 YouTube channel.
Notes
• Junior Adi Walick scored U-M's first goal of the season on a penalty kick, earning two points while recording two shots. The goal marked Michigan's first successful penalty kick since 2023, when the Maize and Blue converted against Maryland.
• Malia Zillman delivered a strong performance in net, posting an .833 save percentage with five saves on 14 shots faced. Her five saves helped U-M secure the draw in the season opener.
• In his first game at the helm of the Wolverines, head coach Dave DiIanni guided Michigan to a draw against Utah Valley in the season opener.
• Among the B1G Players to Watch, Campbell Jewell and Ellie Fife both played the full 90 minutes in the season opener. Jewell recorded two shots, including one on goal, as she helped lead the Wolverines on both sides of the field.
• Freshmen Torah Betteridge, Melisa Kekic, Anabelle Egeland and Zillman all made their collegiate debuts in the season opener, with Betteridge, Kekic and Zillman earning starts for the Wolverines. The opener also marked the first appearances in the Maize and Blue for transfers Natelle El Mokbel, Brooklyn Marn and Rylie McKinney, as Michigan welcomed 11 new faces to the lineup.
• The season-opening draw marked Michigan's first draw to open a season since 2020, when the Wolverines played Ohio State to a 1-1 tie during the COVID-19 season.
• Sunday's contest will mark the first meeting in program history between the Aggies and Wolverines. Utah State opened its season with a 2-0 loss to No. 15-ranked Kansas.
• Michigan will open its 2026 home schedule at U-M Soccer Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 22, welcoming Xavier to Ann Arbor for a 5 p.m. matchup.
