SANFORD, Fla. -- University of Michigan pitcher Shane Brinham was named to the Perfect Game Freshman All-America second team, the publication announced Thursday (June 11).
Brinham has collected his share of awards, including All-Big Ten Freshman Team honors, All-Big Ten Tournament honors and National Pitcher of the Week. He led the Wolverines with a 3.88 earned-run average, with a 6-4 record over 18 appearances. Brinham added 61 strikeouts in 65 innings pitched while walking 35 and allowing just three home runs. Twice this season, he threw a complete game, going seven shutout innings against Oregon and nine shutout innings against Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament.
Brinham becomes the fifth player in program history to earn Perfect Game second-team Freshman All-America honors, joining Jake Bivens, Jesse Franklin and Ben Dragani, who all earned the nod in 2015. Collin Priest was the most recent Wolverine to earn the honor, doing so in 2024.
