ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (3-7, 0-2 Big Ten) will honor its senior class Sunday (April 5) at noon when it hosts No. 13-ranked Rutgers (8-3, 1-1 Big Ten) at U-M Lacrosse Stadium in a Big Ten Conference contest. The game is set to air on Big Ten Network.
Notes
• Michigan and Rutgers have met 13 times, with the Scarlet Knights holding an 11-2 advantage in the all-time series. U-M earned an 8-7 victory in the regular-season meeting between the two squads in 2025, but the Scarlet Knights notched an 11-8 win in the Big Ten Tournament.
• Nick Gatto recorded his first career hat trick against Maryland to pace the Wolverines in their first home game in six weeks. He opened up the scoring for Michigan in the first quarter and tacked on his final two goals in the third quarter.
• Freshmen Luke Shannehan, Tay Rodriguez and Adam Udell have made an impact in their first seasons. Shannehan ranks second on the team in points with 27 (19 goals, team-high eight assists). The attacker has recorded three hat tricks and has four multi-goal games through the first nine games of the season, with a career-best five on two occasions.
• Rodriguez leads the Wolverines with 61 faceoff wins and has a .500 faceoff percentage through 10 games. The freshman also has a team-high 34 ground balls, has scored two goals, and has one assist.
• Udell has come picked up the pace offensively in the last two games, recording his first career hat trick against No. 12 Johns Hopkins. The freshman attacker also scored a goal against No. 1 Notre Dame and had two points at No. 17 Denver, while adding one caused turnover and one ground ball against Maryland.
• Nick Roode leads the Michigan offense with 30 points (25 goals, five assists). He has scored at least two goals in all but two games and recorded a hat trick in each of the first five games this season. Roode has a .707 shots-on-goal percentage with 41 of his 58 shots reaching the cage, and ranks fourth in the conference with his 30 points.
• U-M held the high-powered Fighting Irish offense seven goals below its season average of 16, giving up just nine goals in the contest. Senior goalie Hunter Taylor stopped 17 shots, just one save shy of his career high. Taylor made 10 saves in the first half against Notre Dame, including seven in the second quarter to keep Michigan within striking distance in the first half.
• Michigan set a program record to open the 2026 season, scoring 24 goals against Mercyhurst. U-M went on a 14-1 run to open the game and finished with 10 straight goals in the decisive victory. The Wolverines broke the previous program record of 23 goals set on Feb. 22, 2022, against Canisius.
• U-M will travel to State College, Pa., for a Saturday, April 11 showdown with Penn State. The game will start at 1 p.m. and will be streamed live on B1G+.
