
Michigan Falls to Penn State in Big Ten Road Contest

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team took a 4-0 loss to Penn State on the road Sunday afternoon (Oct. 22) at Jeffrey Field.
Senior Bryce Blevins put a shot on net, while Alex Waggoner had two shots and Isaiah Goldson made four stops on the day for the Wolverines (2-5-7, 1-1-5 Big Ten).
Goldson came up big and early with three saves in the first 15 minutes of play to keep the match scoreless, but the Nittany Lions (8-3-3, 4-2-1 Big Ten) found back-to-back goals to take a 2-0 advantage in the 22nd minute.
Michigan came out and settled in to generate some offensive pressure in the second half with back-to-back corners in the 55th minute. One of its best chances came in the 66th minute on a set piece that saw a shot go off target inside the 18-yard box. Minutes later, Penn State capitalized on penalty kick to extend its lead to 3-0.
Blevins looked to get one back for Michigan but the shot was stopped on a diving save from the Nittany Lion keeper in the 78th minute.
Penn State added one final goal in the remaining 10 minutes as Michigan fell 4-0 on the road.
The Wolverines will honor their eight-man senior class Wednesday (Oct. 25) against Cleveland State at 7 p.m. in their final non-conference contest at U-M Soccer Stadium. The match will be streamed live on B1G+.
