Wolverine Bites
• Michigan is third in the nation and leads the Big Ten Conference in goals per game (21.50), and is led offensively by junior Josh Zawada, who is No. 1 in the nation in points-per-game average (10.50) and assists (5.50/game). Sophomore Michael Boehm ranks fifth nationally in points per game with 7.00.
• Zawada's five goal, six assist (11 points) effort in U-M's 21-5 win over Detroit earned him his second straight Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor. He now boasts 92 points (50 goals, 42 assists) in his career and is eight points away from becoming the sixth player in U-M history to tally 100-points in a career.
• Michigan enters game week three receiving votes in the latest Inside Lacrosse Media and USILA Coaches Polls.
• Defensively, sophomore goalie Shane Carr ranks second in the country in goals-against average (6.18) and is No. 13 in save percentage (.590). The U-M defensive unit is allowing 9.00 goals/game, good for 12th nationally.
• The Wolverines have totaled 43 goals over the first two contests of the season, with 16 different players marking at least one goal. Last season, U-M did not score its 43rd goal of the second until the fifth game of the year, and 14 players scored goals.
• A win against Holy Cross would give U-M a 3-0 start for the first time since 2017 when U-M started the year 4-0.
Scouting the Opponent
The Crusaders are 0-2 to start their season, dropping matchups to Providence and Syracuse. Holy Cross assistant coach Chris Harren served as volunteer assistant coach at Michigan the past three seasons, while Crusader head coach JL Reppert worked together at Maryland.
U-M last faced Holy Cross in 1980 when it was a club program, with the Wolverines emerging victorious by a 12-5 score. The two sides have yet to meet as a varsity program.
