Ryan Cohen (April 26)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman Ryan Cohen has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performance against No. 11 Ohio State on Sunday (April 24). Against the Buckeyes, he led the Wolverines with three goals and added one assist for his fifth hat trick and 13th multi-point game of the season. Cohen ranks third in the country for points amongst freshmen and No. 1 in assists with 24. His 51 points are a new U-M freshman record for points in a season and are the third-most in a single season in program history. Overall, he ranks third on the team in goals (27), assists and points. Ryan Cohen (April 5)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman Ryan Cohen has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performance against No. 1-ranked Maryland on Saturday (April 2). Cohen earned the honor for the fourth time this season after leading the team with five points (4 goals, 1 assist) on 11 shots against the Terps. He ranks No. 35 nationally in points per game (4.00), which is tied for first among all freshmen with Bucknell's Connor Davis. He has nine points (5g, 4a) through two Big Ten games and ranks third on the team in points (44) and assists (22) and fourth in goals (22). » Big Ten Release
Michael Boehm, Shane Carr, Ryan Cohen (March 8)
Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week -- Sophomore Michael Boehm has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in U-M's 2-0 week that featured wins over Marquette and Delaware. Boehm paced the offense with seven goals and four helpers (11 points). He marked three scores against the Golden Eagles on six shots and collected a pair of ground balls. Against Delaware, he had four scores on seven shots. He ranks No. 10 in the country in points-per-game, and his 37 points rank second on the team. Boehm's honor is the first offensive honor of his career, as he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on April 27 of last season. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Specialist of the Week -- Sophomore Shane Carr has been named Big Ten Specialist of the Week after U-M's two wins over Marquette and Delaware. Carr totaled 29 saves over the two contests highlighted by 20 stops, the third most in program history, in the victory over Delaware. He allowed eight goals against and faced 51 shots in all. In the win over Marquette, he saved nine shots against ten scores allowed inside the challenging Marquette indoor bubble. He leads the country in goals-against-average (6.74) and is second in save percentage (64). Carr's plaudit is the first of his career. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman Ryan Cohen has been named Big Ten Specialist of the Week for his work following U-M's week that showcased wins over Marquette and Delaware. Cohen registered three scores and five helpers. His week was highlighted by four assists in the victory over the Blue Hens. He is averaging 4.14 points per contest, the second most for a freshman in the country. Cohen also earned the honor on Feb. 8 and Feb. 22. » Big Ten Release
Josh Zawada (March 1)
Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week -- Junior Josh Zawada has been named Big Ten co-Offensive Player of the Week for the third time on the season for his nine goal, four assist (13-point week) in wins over Canisius (Feb. 22) and Cleveland State (Feb. 26). Against the Golden Griffins, he broke his own school record with seven goals and added three assists for 10 points. He followed that effort with a two-goal, one-assist performance to give him nine goals and four assists on the week. With 23 goals and 17 assists (40 points) on the year, Zawada is nine points away from the U-M single-season record for points in a season. He has yet to play in the fourth quarter in any contest through five games. He also owns 111 points in his career (63 g., 48a.). In addition, his 48 assists are three away from breaking Ian King's (2014-17) school assist record. He previously took home the accolade on Feb. 7 and Feb. 15 of this season. Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman Ryan Cohen has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time this year for his two-goal, two-assist performance in U-Ms 20-3 win over Holy Cross on Saturday (Feb. 19). Cohens two markers came on only three shots, and he assisted on a pair of goals from junior Jacob Jackson. The Boca Raton, Fla., native has started all three games on attack, and is fourth on the team in goals (seven), second in assists (seven), and third in points (14). Cohen previously took home the accolade on Feb. 7, as he was named Big Ten co-Freshman of the Week. » Big Ten Release
Josh Zawada (Feb. 15)
Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, USILA Team of the Week -- Junior Josh Zawada has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week following his school record 11-point effort in U-M's 21-5 win over Detroit on Saturday (Feb. 12). Zawada surpassed the 10-point plateau for the second straight game, registering five goals and six helpers for a school record 11 points. With 21 points on the year, he leads the nation in points per game with 10.50 per contest. He now boasts 92 points (50 goals, 42 assists) in his career, and is eight points away from becoming the sixth player in U-M history to tally 100-points in a career. Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week -- Junior Josh Zawada posted the best single-game offensive output in program history in Michigan's 22-13 season-opening win over Bellarmine on Saturday (Feb. 5). Michael Boehm, Michael Cosgrove, Jack Whitney (Feb.1 )
Big Ten Players to Watch -- Sophomore Michael Boehm, junior Michael Cosgrove and sophomore Jack Whitney have been named Big Ten Men's Lacrosse Players to Watch heading into the 2022 season. Boehm, a sophomore attackman, finished as the team's second-leading scorer last season (21 goals, 15 assists, 36 points). He will help anchor a Michigan attack unit that brings back 61 percent of points scored from 2021. Cosgrove, a defensive midfield mainstay for the past two seasons, has played 19 career games for the Wolverines. He will open his junior campaign as the team's top defensive midfield option. Whitney, a sophomore close defender, started all 12 games a year ago, notching 15 ground balls along with five caused turnovers. » Big Ten Release
