U-M to Take to Road for Matches Against Louisville, Cincinnati

The sixteenth-ranked University of Michigan women's soccer team travels for its first multi-match road trip of the season to face Louisville on Friday (Sept. 10) at 5 p.m., and Cincinnati on Sunday (Sept. 12) at 3 p.m. The matches also serve as the Wolverines' final non-conference contests of the regular season.
Friday's match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, while Sunday's contest will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Wolverine Bites
• Through six matches, U-M is outshooting opponents 142-43, and outscoring teams 13-2. The shot output leads the conference, while its goals-per-match mark of 2.167 is tied third in the Big Ten.
• Michigan's 13 goals have come from seven different Wolverines, led by senior Nicki Hernandez with four.
• Hernandez is among Big Ten individual leaders so far this season, ranking sixth in shots (26) and shots on goal (11). Her four markers rank No. 9 in the conference, and her 10 points are tied for 10th.
• Now in its 28th season as a varsity program, U-M has 299 wins. Debbie (Belkin) Rademacher (1994-07) leads the program in career victories with 160, while Greg Ryan (2008-17) owns 103 wins. Head coach Jennifer Klein enters the weekend with 36 wins at Michigan.
• Klein has spread out her starting 11 thus far, with 23 different Wolverines earning a starting nod. Centerback Sydney Shepherd is the lone Wolverine to start every match.
•Senior goalkeepers Hillary Beall and Izzy Nino have combined for four clean sheets in goal thus far. Beall has 15 stops on the year in nearly 400 minutes of match action, while Nino has been largely untested, stopping two shots over 144 minutes.
•The last time U-M conceded only two goals through six matches was the 2006 season.
• In her third season at the helm of the Michigan program, Jennifer Klein is 14-6 against non-conference foes.
• The Wolverines are ranked No. 16 in the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches Poll released Tuesday (Sept. 7). U-M climbed eight spots from its No. 24 ranking in last weeks poll.

Louisville
All-time series against the Cardinals: Louisville leads 1-0
The Cardinals enter the week with a 4-1 overall mark, most recently dropping a 1-0 contest against Western Kentucky on Sunday (Sept. 5). Prior to the defeat, the Cardinals won three straight home matches against Western Michigan, James Madison and Northern Kentucky.
Louisville and Michigan have battled only one other time. Louisville defeated U-M 3-1 on Aug. 26, 2018. Nicki Hernandez scored the Wolverines' lone goal in that match.
Cincinnati
All-time series against the Bearcats tied 1-1
The Bearcats enter the week with a 4-1-1 mark. Last week, Cincinnati knocked off Ball State 2-1 on Sept. 2 and defeated Eastern Illinois 5-0 on Sept. 5. Its two other wins came over Northern Kentucky and Virginia Tech.
The last time the Bearcats and Wolverines met was Aug. 29, 2008, a 2-1 Cincinnati win in Ohio.
