Burton, Hajjar Named to ABCA All-Region Second Team

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Sophomore second baseman Ted Burton and junior pitcher Steven Hajjar of the University of Michigan baseball team have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Midwest Region second team in an announcement made Wednesday (June 16).
Burton ranked among the Big Ten Conference leaders in batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage despite missing 11 games of a standout season. Burton's .342 batting average led the Wolverines and ranked fifth in the conference while his .667 slugging percentage was second among Big Ten players. His .434 on-base percentage was 10th, bolstered by a run through the end of the regular season that saw him hit safely in 17 of his last 20 games. Burton, who homered against Connecticut in the NCAA Tournament, finished the season with seven homers, 12 doubles and 28 runs batted in.
Hajjar
Hajjar led the Big Ten with 110 strikeouts, which ranks sixth on the program's single-season list. He recorded double-digit strikeout totals in three games, with a high of 13 against Michigan State -- a game in which he allowed just one hit over six innings. The lefty started 14 games, posting a 4-2 record and a 3.09 earned-run average against just 66 hits in 81.2 innings. Opposing teams batted just .214 against Hajjar.
Michigan finished its season with a 27-19 record, advancing to the NCAA Tournament, where it competed in the South Bend Regional.
