
Ybarra Earns First Team All-B1G Honors; Evans, Bucknor Garner All-Freshman Nods

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Fifth-year senior Marc Ybarra of the University of Michigan men's soccer team earned his fourth All-Big Ten honor, a first-team selection, while Jason Bucknor and Hayden Evans earned All-Freshman Team honors as announced by the conference Friday (Nov. 5).
Ybarra's repeats as a first-team recipient after earning the distinction last season. He also was named to the all-conference second team in 2019 and the All-Freshman Team in 2017. The Ann Arbor native is the only player to start all 16 matches this season for Michigan, playing 1,482 minutes as a midfielder. He scored three goals, to tie for second on the team, and had two assists for 12 points. In Big Ten play, Ybarra scored one goal and added two assists, with his goal coming on the road at Penn State. Ybarra is the all-time leader in games played (89) and games started (88), while ranking second in career assists (24).
Bucknor helped anchor the backline in his first season as a Wolverine, appearing in 14 matches with 12 starts, missing two games due to injury. The defender has totaled 815 minutes and has added one assist this season as a Wolverine, while helping Michigan to one shutout.
Evans earned the starting role in net halfway through the season, starting every Big Ten Conference match. The freshman keeper has made 11 starts and carries a .750 save percentage. Evans has made 42 saves this season, including a career-high eight at No. 8 Maryland, while making six saves in his first career shutout against Wisconsin.
Senior Kevin Buca was Michigan's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner after starting 14 games and leading the Wolverines with 12 points (five goals, two assists). The U-M midfielder recorded a hat trick in the Wolverines' 3-1 victory over Northwestern and has played 985 minutes this season.
Michigan earned the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will host No. 5-seeded Wisconsin on Sunday (Nov. 7) at U-M Soccer Stadium. First kick is set for 1 p.m., and the match will be streamed on B1G+.
