ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan field hockey seniors Paige Laytos (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and Meredith Way (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) have been selected for the 2010 NFHCA Division I Senior Game, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, in College Park, Md. The game time has yet to be determined.
This year's Senior Game participants will face off against the U.S. Women's National Team as well as against each other in a series of four 25-minute periods.
Laytos, a midfielder/back, has started all 18 games for the Wolverines this season and leads the team with 11 assists on the year. She had back-to-back two-assist contests against Big Ten opponents Iowa on Oct. 10 and Northwestern on Oct. 15 and had three assists in the win over Quinnipiac on Sept. 19. Laytos was named to the NFHCA All-America third team as a sophomore and has been a three-time All-Big Ten selection at U-M. She is tied for ninth on U-M's all-time assist list with 26 and has 50 career points.
Way, a back, also has started all 18 games this season and has five goals and three assists for 13 points. She had game-winning goals against James Madison on Sept. 10 and in a two-goal performance at Iowa on Oct. 10. Way was an All-Big Ten first team performer in 2009 and currently is eighth on U-M's all-time goals scored list with 38 and 10th in career points with 91.
Laytos and Way will see a familiar face on the opposing side, as current U-M volunteer assistant coach Maren Ford is on the U.S. Women's National Team.
Michigan is the No. 2 seed in the 2010 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament and will face seventh-seeded Iowa in the first round this Thursday (Nov. 4) at 12:15 p.m. CDT.
