WOLVERINE BITES
No breaks. I feel reborn. I'm like a Phoenix rising from Arizona -- Senior Jackie Carron (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) is two games away from her 70th career start, a milestone that only 16 other Wolverines have met. Carron has not missed a start in her four years at Michigan, appearing in all 68 games since the 2007 season. Carron is on pace to make 75 starts before the end of the 2010 regular season. Senior Amanda Bowery (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) is three starts behind her classmate and on pace to make her 70th career start, which will come against Iowa (Oct. 29).
Brick Wall -- Junior/Sophomore Haley Kopmeyer (Troy, Mich./Lahser) picked up her first conference shutout of the season with a three-save performance against Michigan State (Oct. 9). The shutout marks the ninth of her career, giving her sole possession of fourth on the U-M career list. She had been tied with Jessica Jones (8, 1995-98). Kopmeyer is now chasing Carissa Stewart (16, 1997-2000), Megan Tuura (20, 2003-06) and Suzie Grech (25, 2000-03) for the program record.
On the Big Ten Radar -- Freshman Nkem Ezurike sits in a tie for fifth in Big Ten scoring with six goals. Amanda Bowery is tied for fourth in the conference in assists with four. Ezurike also sits tied for 10th with 13 points. [ Complete Big Ten Statistics ]
