Assistant Fuchs Voted to NCAA 25th Anniversary Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- University of Michigan field hockey assistant coach Tracey Fuchs was named to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey 25th Anniversary Team in recognition of her standout accomplishments and success while a student-athlete at University of Connecticut (1984-87). Fuchs was one of 11 student-athletes selected for the prestigious honor.

In 1981, the NCAA began sponsoring women's championships, which opened the door to increased athletic and academic opportunities for female athletes. Today, the NCAA sponsors 44 women's championships in 20 sports, providing more than 150,000 women with an opportunity to compete for national titles each year. Eleven different NCAA women's sports, many ranging from Division I to Division III, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its NCAA championships by naming an anniversary team.
The Wolverines will kick off the 2005 Big Ten Conference Tournament on Friday (Nov. 4) at Grant Field in Iowa City, Iowa. Seeded fourth in the annual conference tournament, Michigan will open first-round competition against host Iowa, the No. 5 seed, at 12:30 p.m. CST.
