Philbrook, a 1997 Junior World Cup team member and a team captain, led the Wolverines in goals with 12. Six of her goals were game-winners, and four of the six came against Big Ten opponents. The forward missed action in two games this season due a knee injury.
Wilkinson, an All-Big Ten first-team selection, led the Wolverine defensive unit in scoring with six goals. The senior captain was an All-Big Ten Tournament team selection in 1998.
Peggy Storrar, an assistant coach for the Wolverines, was named 1998 Field Hockey Association Athlete of the Year. A goalkeeper for the U.S. National Team, Storrar helped lead her team to an eighth-place finish at the World Cup in May. She was a two-time All-America team member at University of North Carolina, where she was a four-year starter and a member of the Tar Heels' 1989 national championship team. Storrar is in her third season as assistant coach at the University of Michigan, where she is in charge of coaching goalkeepers and helps with recruiting.
The Wolverines closed the 1998 season with a 15-6 overall record and placed second in the Big Ten regular season with a 7-3 league mark. Michigan finished second to Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament and was not selected for the 12-team NCAA Tournament.
