
Michigan Falls to No. 10 Army in Neutral Site Clash

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team fell to No. 10 Army, 13-11, on Saturday (Feb. 21) at BT Harvey Stadium on the campus of Morehouse College.
The Wolverines (3-2) led throughout the first half before Army (4-0) responded in the third quarter to take a 9-8 lead into the final 15 minutes.
Jack Jenkins paced Michigan with two goals and one assist, while Matt Han and Nick Roode scored two goals apiece. Alex Gatto added one goal and one assist, and Eliot Dubick recorded two assists.
Defensively, Henry Weller caused two turnovers, while Will Tominovich collected four ground balls. In goal, Hunter Taylor made six saves.
Michigan opened the game with back-to-back goals from Han and Jenkins. The Wolverines held Army scoreless for nearly the first 10 minutes before the Black Knights cut the deficit to 2-1. U-M answered with two more goals, and after an Army score, carried a 4-2 lead into the second quarter.
Alex Bauer extended the lead to 5-2 early in the second quarter, but Army responded with three straight goals to tie the game at 5-5. Michigan closed the half strong, as Tay Rodriguez and Josh Ford scored in the final minute to give U-M a 7-5 advantage at the break.
Army tied the game early in the third quarter and later took its first lead at 9-8 entering the fourth.
The Black Knights stretched the lead to three before Roode scored with 6:02 remaining to pull Michigan within one. Army answered with two goals over a three-minute span before Roode added a final goal with 13 seconds left. The Wolverines could not complete the comeback.
U-M travels to Denver, Colo., on Saturday (Feb. 28) to face Denver at 1 p.m. MT.
