ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 17 University of Michigan women's gymnastics team earned a 197.100-196.750 victory over No. 25 Nebraska in its annual Flip for Chip Meet Sunday afternoon (Feb. 9) at Crisler Center.
The Wolverines (6-2, 2-1 B1G) put together a season-high 49.400 on the uneven bars and had matching 49.350s on both beam and floor to lift them to victory over the Cornhuskers (2-8, 1-3 B1G). Graduate student Carly Bauman tied a career-best 9.950 on uneven bars and recorded a career-high 9.975 on the beam to take home the title in both events, while Jenna Mulligan and Sophia Diaz shared the vault title.
In all, Michigan had 10 career-bests as Sophie Parenti tied a career-high on uneven bars and had a career-best 9.850 floor, while Ava Jordan had a career-best 9.875 on the uneven bars with a stuck landing.
Peyton Davis tied a career-high 9.800 to start the meet for Michigan and Mulligan and Diaz recorded matching 9.825 as U-M trailed the Cornhuskers 49.325-49.000 after one rotation.
The uneven bars lineup put together a season-high 49.400 behind a win from Bauman, who tied a career-best 9.950, while Jordan and Diaz both stuck their landings. Parenti led off the event to tie a career-best 9.825 and Jordan followed it up with a career-best 9.875. In the third spot, Diaz tied a career-high 9.900, while Jacey Vore earned a 9.850 and Bauman notched a 9.950 as the Maize and Blue took a 98.400-98.050 lead at the halfway point.
Bauman paced U-M on the beam with a career-best 9.975 and Kayli Boozer, Mulligan and Jahzara Ranger all earned matching 9.850s to help Michigan to a 49.350 in the third rotation of the day. The Wolverines built on their lead taking a 147.750-147.425 advantage into the final rotation of the day.
The floor team had four career bests as Parenti led off with a 9.850 and Davis followed it up with a 9.825. Diaz tied a career-high 9.850 and Boozer tied a career-best 9.900 in the fourth spot. Bauman matched a 9.900 to put U-M above 197.000 for the first time in the 2024 season and earn the victory over the Cornhuskers.
U-M travels to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers on Saturday (Feb. 15) at 5 p.m. in a Big Ten Conference contest.
