
Diaz, Bauman Cap Michigan's Season at NCAA Individual Event Finals

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Graduate student Carly Bauman and sophomore Sophia Diaz represented the University of Michigan women's gymnastics team at the NCAA Individual Event Finals on Thursday night (April 16) at Dickies Arena.
Bauman concluded her career as a Wolverine with a 9.8375 on the balance beam. An AAI Award finalist, Bauman finishes her career as a national champion, a two-time Big Ten champion, a two-time Big Ten regular-season champion, a second team All-American on floor exercise, a two-time Regional Gymnast of the Year, the Big Ten Specialist of the Year, a Big Ten individual champion on the uneven bars and a three-time first team All-Big Ten selection. The West Des Moines, Iowa, native won 33 career titles, including 17 on uneven bars, six on beam and 10 on floor, while recording 65 career routines of 9.900 or better, with 25 on uneven bars, 19 on beam and 21 on floor.
Diaz put together a memorable uneven bars routine in the third rotation, hitting her handstands and sticking her landing for a 9.8625. The Clarksville, Md., native was a second-team All-Big Ten honoree and the Big Ten Specialist of the Week once in 2026. Diaz earned an event title on vault and floor and had 13 scores of 9.900 or better this season, including seven straight on floor to close out the season.
