PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- University of Michigan women's gymnastics associate head coach Scott Sherman, along with assistant coaches Cali Hager and Quest Hayden, were named Northeast Regional Assistant Coaches of the Year, as announced by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association on Wednesday (April 8).
The trio has been instrumental in the No. 10-ranked Wolverines' 2026 season, as they lead the Northeast region with a National Qualifying Score of 197.111, jumping up from a 196.945 in 2025.
Additionally, Lisa Savoury was named the Administrator of the Year, along with Penn State's Sarah Higgins and Rutgers' Monique Brown.
U-M led the region on vault, balance beam and floor exercise, while ranking second on uneven bars and ranking in the top 15 nationally on all four events: fifth on beam, ninth on floor, 13th on vault and 15th on uneven bars. Michigan broke its program beam record with a 49.650, while also posting the fourth-highest beam score in program history with a 49.600. The trio helped Michigan to a conference-leading five All-Big Ten honorees, with Carly Bauman and Jahzara Ranger earning first-team honors, and Kayli Boozer, Sophia Diaz and Quincy Walters being named to the second team. Walters was named to the All-Freshman Team in a dynamic group of freshmen across the conference. This season, Michigan tied or broke career highs on 40 occasions, while it took home 31 individual event titles, including four straight beam titles from Boozer and six floor titles from Bauman, and Michigan finished the season with 70 scores of 9.900 or better.
