
Michigan Sweeps Individual Event Titles, Wins Tri-Meet at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The No. 16-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team swept the individual event titles and captured victory at the Rutgers Tri-Meet with a score of 196.900 on Saturday evening (Feb. 15) at Jersey Mike's Arena.
Michigan (8-2, 4-1 Big Ten) defeated Rutgers (195.350) in a Big Ten matchup and earned a win over non-conference foe Kent State (194.500). Graduate students Carly Bauman and Jenna Mulligan along with freshman Sophia Diaz each took home a pair of event titles. Bauman earned a share of the uneven bars and floor exercise, Mulligan won the vault and a share of the balance beam and Diaz won a share of uneven bars and floor. Sophomore Kayli Boozer also took home a part of the beam title as she matched Mulligan's 9.900.
Freshman Sophie Parenti hit in the leadoff spot in all three of her events, including tying a career-best 9.850 on the beam while freshman Audrey Sanger made her collegiate uneven bars debut and notched a 9.825 in the anchor spot, while sophomore Ava Jordan tied a career-best 9.875 on the vault.
Parenti led off for Michigan on uneven bars and stuck her landing for a 9.800. Jordan matched in the second spot and Diaz scored a 9.850, while Jacey Vore scored a 9.825. Bauman earned 9.850 in the fifth spot and Sanger made her collegiate debut on uneven bars and scored a 9.825. The Wolverines scored a 49.150 and led the field as Rutgers went 48.775 on vault and Kent State earned a 48.625 on beam.
Once again, Parenti led off the second rotation, beam, and tied a career-best 9.850, while Boozer and Mulligan earned matching 9.900s in the second and third spots. Ranger notched a 9.850 as U-M led the field with a 98.425 through two rotations.
Parenti hit in the first spot with a 9.825 and Peyton Davis followed it up with a career-high 9.850. Michigan continued to build on its scores as Diaz notched a 9.900 and Boozer scored a 9.850. Bauman scored a 9.900 to match Diaz and Jahzara Ranger closed out the rotation with a 9.850 as the Wolverines continued to lead the field with a 147.775. Rutgers stayed in second with a 146.325 and Kent State sat in third with a 146.125.
Jordan scored a career-best 9.875 on the vault to start the final rotation and Mulligan took the title with a career-high 9.900 as U-M earned the tri-meet road victory.
Michigan returns to Crisler Center next Sunday (Feb. 23) to host No. 5 UCLA at 3:45 p.m. The meet will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
