BALTIMORE, Md. -- Inside Lacrosse honored juniors Michael Boehm and Justin Wietfeldt of the No. 15-ranked University of Michigan men's lacrosse team as honorable mention media All-Americans, the publication announced Wednesday (May 17).
Boehm recently broke the U-M record for goals in a season with 45. He will enter the second round of the NCAA tournament sitting at 99 goals and is on the brink of becoming the third player in school history to reach 100 career goals. Boehm also owns 71 points on the season, leads the team in goals and ranks third on the team in assists (26). Boehm is seven points away from breaking teammate Josh Zawada's high-water mark of 77 accomplished last season.
Wietfeldt ranks No. 3 in the country with a winning percentage of 65 percent (137-of-211) along with 85 ground balls. A key part of the top-ranked faceoff duo in the country, he has won at least 50 percent of faceoffs in 14 of 16 contests on the year.
The duo represents the first Wolverines to be named to the Inside Lacrosse All-America list. Votes were tabulated and sorted into three teams, with remaining players who received a significant share of votes added to the honorable mention list. Voting was completed after the conference tournaments and before the NCAA Tournament first round.
The pair will lead the Wolverines into their NCAA Tournament quarterfinal matchup against No. 1 Duke on Saturday (May 20) at 2:30 p.m. in Albany, N.Y.
