BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- University of Michigan field hockey fifth-year seniors Kathryn Peterson and Anna Spieker were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's 2022 Division I Senior Team, the organization announced Thursday (Oct. 20). U-M was one of just eight schools to earn multiple representatives on the 38-person list.
Peterson, a two-time NFHCA All-American, has appeared in 86 games to date over her Michigan career and started 75 games at midfield over the last five seasons. She boasts 20 career goals and 23 assists, primarily as the insert on U-M's corner attack unit. She also is a three-time NFHCA All-West Region and All-Big Ten honoree.
Spieker, a 2020-21 NFHCA All-American, ranks among the NCAA active career leaders with a 1.23 goals-against average and .728 save percentage over her five seasons in the Michigan cage. Swenson has contributed to six shutouts in her senior campaign -- including back-to-back at home last weekend -- and ranks second among the national leaders in goals-against average (0.81). She also is a two-time All-Big Ten honoree.

All five NCAA Division I regions are represented on the list of 2022 honorees. The selected student-athletes were nominated by their NFHCA member coach and were chosen based on their career accomplishments. In addition to Peterson and Spieker, fellow fifth-year senior Katie Anderson was named to the NFHCA Senior Team last season.
After a two-year absence, the Senior Game will return in 2022 and once again will be held in conjunction with the NCAA Championship in Storrs, Conn. The game is slated for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at UConn's Nancy Stevens Field.
U-M heads to Evanston, Ill., this weekend to face No. 3 Northwestern at 3 p.m. CDT on Friday (Oct. 21) and No. 8 Iowa at 11:30 a.m. CDT on Sunday (Oct. 23) at Lakeside Field. Friday's game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
