ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Junior Nick Rowlett and sophomore Josh Zawada of the University of Michigan men's lacrosse team received All-Big Ten Conference recognition, with Rowlett earning first team honors and Zawada garnering a spot on the second team, the league announced Friday (April 30).
The accolade for Rowlett marks the first time a U-M faceoff specialist has earned All-Big Ten honors, and he was the lone faceoff specialist on the All-Big Ten teams this year. He is the second All-Big Ten first team pick in U-M program history, joining 2018 honoree Brent Noseworthy.
Rowlett leads the conference in ground balls per game (8.90) and ranks third in the league in faceoff win percentage at 55 (148-of-268). He has double-digit ground balls in four contests, highlighted by a 16-pickup effort against Rutgers on March 16.
Zawada leads the team in goals (21) and points (33) and has 12 assists on the campaign. He leads the conference in man-up goals with five and ranks No. 10 in the league in points per game with 3.30. He has eight multi-point games on the season and has at least four points in five games.
Additionally, senior captain Jackson Zaugg was named the team's sportsmanship honoree for his leadership as well as his work in the community. He has played in 10 games as a longstick midfielder and has eight groundball pickups to go along with a pair of caused turnovers.
Michigan is the No. 5 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will open postseason play Saturday (May 1) at 4 p.m. with a first-round game at No. 4 seed Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. Big Ten Network will televise the game.
