ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior attackman Kyle Jackson of the University of Michigan men's lacrosse team has signed a free-agent contract with the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse.
Jackson, a four-year starter, leaves Michigan as the program's all-time leading scorer with 88 goals and 25 assists for 113 points. Throughout his career at Michigan, he was named as Team Offensive MVP, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions, to the All-ECAC First Team and to the ECAC All-Rookie Team and was an ECAC Rookie of the Week.
This past season, he missed four games due to injury and was unable to play in the NCAA mandated 75 percent of contests played to qualify for statistical categories, finishing the season with 29 goals in nine games for a 3.22 goals/game average. The number would have ranked No. 5 in the NCAA and first in the Big Ten had he qualified in the category. Jackson also set a new single-season school record for points (36).
Jackson is the first Wolverine in varsity program history to be signed by an MLL franchise. Club alum Brekan Kohlitz (2005-08) played for the Washington Bayhawks during the 2008 season.
