ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Senior longstick midfielder Chase Brown of the University of Michigan men's lacrosse team has been named All-Big Ten honorable mention, the conference announced Tuesday (May 3).
Brown led the team in ground balls with 41, setting the U-M single-season record for a non-faceoff man. The 3.15 pick-ups per game ranked No. 5 in the conference and No. 70 nationally. The captain also led the Big Ten and ranked No. 17 nationally with 21 caused turnovers.
The Annapolis, Maryland, native was named B1G Defender of the Week on two occasions and tied the single-game school record with five caused turnovers vs. Maryland on April 2. Additionally, he became the first Michigan longstick to score a pair of goals in a game (vs. Penn State, April 30) and finished the season with three goals on nine shots.
Brown, a political science degree recipient who graduated last week, ended his stellar U-M career with four goals, 133 ground balls and 66 caused turnovers.
Additionally, junior Andrew Hatton was named the squad's Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree. Hatton served as the team's community service representative this past season, spearheading volunteer opportunities for the team, and was instrumental in the team's relationship with the Team IMPACT organization.
