THINGS TO KNOW
The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (3-3) looks to move to 3-0 at home for the first time in program history, hosting the Dartmouth Big Green (0-4) Saturday (March 19) at 1 p.m. inside Michigan Stadium.
WOLVERINE BITES
Senior attackman Kyle Jackson, who has won two of the last three Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors, ranks No. 4 in the NCAA and leads the Big Ten in goals per game at 3.33. He is also tied for the Big Ten lead in shooting percentage (50 percent) and leads the team in goals with 20 and in points with 24. He is also four goals off of his career high of 24 through three games, which was set during his sophomore season.
The attack unit also features junior Ian King, who ranks No. 32 in the country in assists per game at 1.67, and has 10 assists overall to lead the team. He is second on the team in points with 18. Additionally, senior Peter Kraus is second on the team in goals (nine) and is third on the team in points with 10. He is also shooting 50 percent on the season, as he has taken 18 shots.
The Wolverines boast the No. 27 clearing percentage in the NCAA at 87 percent and are shooting at a 32-percent clip, which is good for No. 13 nationally. The defense has caused 1.17 turnovers per game, which ranks third in the Big Ten.
U-M's man-down defense has killed off 74 percent of opponent chances, which comes in at No. 16 nationally. Senior longstick Chase Brown has been instrumental on both units and ranks No. 3 in the Big Ten in caused turnovers at 1.17, while senior/junior goalie Gerald Logan is No. 4 in the Big Ten in both save percentage (51 percent) and No. 1 in saves per game (12.50).
A win would bring U-M to a 3-0 home record this season, which is one victory away from equaling last season's mark of four victories.
OPPONENT PREVIEW
Dartmouth enters with a 0-4 overall mark, with two of the defeats coming by two goals or less. Most recently, the Big Green fell to Wagner 7-6 on March 5. Their slate also features a 16-6 loss at No. 1 Denver on Feb. 28.
The Big Green rank near the bottom of the NCAA in numerous categories, including goals per game (65th, 5.75), turnovers (68th, 19.25) and clearing percentage (62nd, 77 percent). Defensively, goalie Blair Friedensohn ranks No. 30 in the country in saves per game at 10.50, while their scoring defense is No. 41 at 10.50 goals allowed a contest. Additionally, the unit is No. 41 in caused turnovers at 3.50 a game.
Individually, Max Randall is No. 16 in caused turnovers (1.75) a contest. Offensively, Wiley Osborne leads the team in points with 10, as well as goals (7) and assists (3).
U-M has never faced the Big Green.
