With the win, Michigan sweeps the season series over Toledo, winning both games by a combined score of 26-8. The two teams met on March 7 at the Coastal Carolina Invitational, where U-M came out on top, 19-5. Michigan leads the all-time series, 37-13-3.
U-M hit two home runs in the first inning, the first time the Wolverines have hit multiple home runs in a game since they hit three against Northwestern on May 3, 2014. Junior Jacob Cronenworth hit a solo shot to right to start off the bottom of the first, and junior Cody Bruder followed with a three-run blast over the left-field wall to give Michigan a 4-0 lead.
Junior right-hander Matt Ogden picked up the win in his longest start of the season today, facing two batters in the sixth before exiting. He allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits and one walk, striking out five.
Junior Cody Bruder has reached base in 21 consecutive games and recorded a hit in 13 straight after his first-inning home run.
Senior Jackson Glines extended his reached-base streak to 11 games after drawing a walk in the first inning of today's game. Earlier this season, Glines reached base in 13 straight games, the fourth-longest streak for the team this year.
Freshman Jake Bivens also has an 11-game reached-base streak after his fourth-inning single. His streak is tied with Glines for the second-longest active streak.
Five Michigan relievers (Cam Wysocki, Mac Lozer, Donnie Eaton, Carmen Benedetti and Bryan Pall) combined to allow just one hit over the last four innings.
