Under the Arch: Welcome Week, Team Photos, #Swag

Moving back to Ann Arbor after a long summer of working and not seeing your teammates results in a whirlwind of emotion. Welcome Week, or the few days when you're moved in on campus before class starts, is a magical time where anything seems possible. Having cereal for three meals a day, getting a gold trophy on every level of Mario Kart, and starting a water conservation movement by only showering once that week are just a few of the more impressive things that can get done during this mini holiday.
Something new our team is doing this year is "before" and "after" photos. Other teams such as football and basketball have already started doing this, but it's basically a cool way for you to show off all the striations in your pectorals you've developed over the summer when you were busy with the "beach body" workout routine instead of following Bo's strength plan (who brags how much they power clean, anyways? Besides Gerald Logan, that is).
Having the freshmen arrive has been rejuvenating, to say the least. Already entering my sophomore year, my hair has begun turning grey and I'm starting to really feel like the old, pleated shorts-wearing man I've become. The freshmen have done a great job of making me feel younger (Patrick Tracy in particular, who hasn't been confirmed of actually being enrolled at U-M and may in fact be attending Ann Arbor Kindercare. Which is probably some sort of early-recruiting violation ...) For the most part, the freshmen have done a good of embracing our culture in the short amount of time they've been here by getting into Oosterbaan whenever there's open gym and making sure to post any and all new gear on social media using hashtags like #swag #dope #lax #instafresh or any other current trending topics.
The first week of practice is underway and with a few days of practice under our belts we're really starting to realize the potential of the new freshmen. Newly found talents include: Mike McDonnell's innate ability to always be smiling, Tommy "The Businessman" Heidt's immaculate hair perfectly embodying the look of a young Leonardo DiCaprio, and Shawn Smith's "chauffer-esque" moped driving abilities that would make even Jason Statham from The Transporter proud (he's still learning about the effect of water and slippery surfaces).
Definitely do invite me to join your LinkedIn,
