The No. 20-ranked University of Michigan volleyball team (23-7, 11-7 Big Ten) returns home for its final regular-season contests, taking on Indiana Friday (Nov. 28) and No. 1-ranked Penn State Saturday (Nov. 29) at Cliff Keen Arena. First serve Friday is schedule for 7 p.m., while Saturday's contest gets underway at 6 p.m. and can be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
The Wolverines are coming off a weekend split on their final road swing, falling at No. 12-ranked Minnesota (Nov. 21) and defeating Iowa (Nov. 22), which kept them in a fourth-place tie in the conference standings with Purdue at 11-7. Indiana stands in the way of Michigan's quest for its best-ever Big Ten finish in the Mark Rosen era. The Hoosiers snapped a four-match losing skid last weekend and are making a play for NCAA tournament consideration. The Wolverines will honor seniors Beth Karpiak (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) and Kerry Hance(Los Angeles, Calif./Marymount) immediately after the match.
On Saturday night, the Wolverines will face the nation's top-ranked team, Penn State, and its 56-match NCAA-record winning streak. The Nittany Lions are looking to run the table in both match and set wins, bringing a 91-set winning streak into Keen Arena. Penn State has already clinched its sixth consecutive Big Ten volleyball title and owns a 34-3 series advantage versus Michigan but all three of U-M's series wins have occurred in Ann Arbor. Saturday is Parents Night with the Wolverines honoring their parents prior to the match.
