ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior Lori Hillman (Gibbsboro, N.J./Eastern Regional HS) and junior Mary Fox (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) were selected to the 16-member STX/NFHCA Division I All-West Region first team, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Monday (Nov. 14). It marks the 10th consecutive year that the Wolverines placed at least two representatives on the All-Region first team.
Hillman, the Big Ten Conference Tournament MVP and two-time All-Big Ten first team selection, earned regional first-team honors for the second straight season. The Wolverine captain tallied one goal, nine assists and a pair of defensive saves while quarterbacking the U-M backfield, which limited the opposition to just 1.89 goals per game and boasted five shutouts.
Fox garnered first-team All Region distinction for the first team in her career after ranking fourth on the team in scoring with four goals, nine assists and 17 points. Fox, who also earned All-Big Ten first team recognition, ended the season on a tear with a five-game scoring streak, netting one goal and four assists in the Wolverines' postseason action.
With their first-team All-Region status, Fox and Hillman are candidates for the STX/NFHCA All-America team. The group will be announced on Monday, Nov. 21, a day after the conclusion of the NCAA Championship in Louisville, Ky.
