Three of Michigan's biggest goals in 2003 came off the foot of Chavez. She scored the game-winner in a 1-0 upset over then No. 4-ranked Notre Dame in the second round of the NCAA Tournament (Nov. 16) after netting the final goal in a 3-2 win over the then No. 2-ranked Irish in the regular-season finale (Oct. 29). On Oct. 24, Chavez notched the game-winning goal in overtime to defeat Michigan State and assure U-M a spot in the Big Ten Tournament.
It marks Chavez's first career regional accolade from the NSCAA. In 2000, she was named to the Soccer Buzz Great Lakes All-Freshman team after finishing the season with eight goals and six assists for 22 points.
