Powers, who earned the honor for the first time in her career on Sept. 16, is tied for fourth in the Big Ten in goals and with nine markers has already surpassed her goal total from a year ago (8).
With Powers' honor, a Michigan player has earned a Big Ten Player of the Week award in three of the last four weeks. Junior forward April Fronzoni (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West HS) and junior defender Stephanie Johnson (Houston, Texas/The Kinkaid School) received the league's offensive and defensive awards, respectively, on Sept. 9, while Powers earned the offensive honor on Sept. 16.
No. 2 Michigan (9-1, 1-0 Big Ten), currently on an eight-game winning streak, concludes its school-record nine-game homestand on Friday (Oct. 4) when it hosts No. 5 Michigan State. Game time is slated for 4 p.m. at Phyllis Ocker Field on the U-M campus.
