U-M Women's Soccer Recognized at Big Ten Banquet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team had six individuals recognized at the Big Ten Conference Women's Soccer Banquet on Thursday night (Nov. 4). Four Wolverines garnered first team All-Big Ten honors and two earned second team All-Big Ten recognition.
Sophomore Kacy Beitel (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow HS), freshman Abby Crumpton (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams HS) and seniors Shannon Poole (Troy, Mich./Troy HS) and Emily Schmitt (Troy, Mich./Athens HS) made the All-Big Ten first team. Senior Mari Hoff (Canton, Mich./Salem HS) and junior Carissa Stewart (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Ararat HS) gained second team honors.

Hoff made her fourth All-Big Ten team, the only Wolverine soccer player to ever receive the distinction in each of her seasons, while Beitel, a second team honoree last season, earned her second All-Big Ten distinction. Crumpton, Poole, Schmitt and Stewart all made their first appearance on an All-Big Ten team.
Penn State's Christie Welsh, a first team All-Big Ten member, walked away with the Big Ten Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year awards, while Iowa coach Stephanie Gabbert was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year.
