
Wolverines Set Sights on First Home Test of 2026

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team (0-0-2) will open the home portion of its 2026 schedule Saturday (Aug. 22), welcoming Xavier (1-1-0) to U-M Soccer Stadium for Heritage Night. The match will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Ellie Fife scored the equalizer in the final second against Utah State, marking the first goal of her collegiate career.
• Freshman goalkeeper Malia Zillman played all 180 minutes in net during Michigan's Utah road trip, recording 12 saves and an .800 save percentage on 30 shots faced.
• Dave DiIanni will look for his first victory at the helm of the Maize and Blue as Michigan opens its home schedule.
• St. Clair, Mich., native Ella Jablinskey provided an offensive spark against Utah State, finding the back of the net and registering four shots for the Wolverines.
• Michigan opened the 2026 season with a pair of hard-fought draws, marking the first time in program history the Wolverines have started a campaign with back-to-back ties. The last time U-M recorded consecutive draws came in 2017 against Iowa (2-2) and Nebraska (1-1).
• Xavier split its first two matches of the season, falling 2-0 to Big Ten Conference foe Michigan State before responding with a 3-0 victory over Miami (Ohio) in its home opener.
• Saturday's matchup will mark the third all-time meeting between Michigan and Xavier. The programs first met in 1998, when the Wolverines earned a 4-2 victory in Ann Arbor. U-M is 1-1 all-time against the Musketeers.
• The Wolverines will return to action Thursday (Aug. 27), hosting Notre Dame at U-M Soccer Stadium. Fans are encouraged to wear maize for the Maize Out matchup.
