ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team (2-3) returns home for the first time in two weeks looking to halt a three-game losing skid when they host Western Michigan on Sunday (Aug. 31). The 1 p.m. matchup will be streamed live on B1G+ from U-M Soccer Stadium.
• Michigan boasts a 9-0-1 record against Western Michigan and has shut out the Broncos in three of the last four meetings.
• The last contest between the in-state rivals was a 3-2 U-M win in 2023. Sammi Woods earned a brace for the Wolverines as then-sophomore Kali Burrell added a goal and an assist. Gabrielle Prych, Abby Zugay, Jenna Lang and Aniyah League also started that contest for the Wolverines.
• Prych and Elle Ervin have accounted for six of Michigan's seven goals in the first four outings. Sophomore Adi Walick has also added assists on four of those seven scores.
• Despite the recent offensive woes, Ervin has jolted the U-M offense to life with a team-high 14 shots on the campaign. She has scored a goal in every game Michigan has scored, pacing the offense with seven points on three goals and an assist.
• Michigan is set to face nine programs that competed in last season's NCAA Tournament, including Western Michigan. The Wolverines wrap up a stout three-game swing against Georgia, Notre Dame and Western Michigan in consecutive matches. The trio boasted a combined 35-13-16 record last season.
• Western Michigan enters the contest with a 1-2 record, most recently defeating Creighton 2-0 on Thursday (Aug. 28). The Broncos share one common opponent with Michigan this season in Notre Dame, also falling to the Fighting Irish by a 2-1 score.
• U-M will get some well-earned rest with its next game set for Sunday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. against Youngstown State. The matchup at U-M Soccer Stadium serves as the squad's annual Pups at the Pitch day and will be streamed live on B1G+.
