ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team (1-0) looks to begin the 2025 season 2-0 when it hosts Detroit Mercy (1-0) at 1 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 17) at U-M Soccer Stadium, with the game to be streamed live on B1G+. The Maize and Blue will celebrate Wolverine Kids Club Day, with the first 500 fans receiving a 2025 team poster as well as a postgame autograph session.
• Head coach Jennifer Klein sports a 5-1 record in home-opening matches as part of a 19-9-4 all-time Michigan record.
• The Wolverines are 9-2 against the Titans in the series dating back to 1994. U-M has bested Detroit Mercy in their past four outings, most recently downing the in-state foe 3-0 in the 2015 home opener.
• Sophomore Elle Ervin carried the load for Michigan in the season-opening win against Villanova on Thursday (Aug. 14). The forward contributed her first career multi-point outing with the game-tying goal in the 77th minute and an assist on the game-winner with three minutes remaining in regulation.
• Classmate Ella Jablinskey also contributed her first career points in the win, adding a secondary assist on the game-winning goal from Gabrielle Prych.
• Michigan's defense stifled Villanova, limiting the Wildcats to just two shots on goal outside of a penalty kick in the second half. Sophomore Ellie Fife, a 2025 Big Ten Player to Watch, held down the fort at center back, playing the full 90 minutes along with classmate Campbell Jewell, who assisted on Ervin's equalizer.
• Freshmen Maya Raghunandanan and Coda Jones made their collegiate debuts on Thursday, with Raghunandanan earning the start. Fife also played her first official game in maize and blue after transferring from Vanderbilt last season.
• Detroit Mercy heads to Ann Arbor after defeating Valparaiso 2-1 in its season-opener on Thursday. Senior Abbey Lodato, a two-time Horizon League first-team selection, slotted both goals for the Titans.
• U-M kicks off a three-game road trip next Thursday (Aug. 21), when it heads south to take on Alabama at 7 p.m. CT, a game that will be streamed live on SEC Network+. The Wolverines' next game at U-M Soccer Stadium will be an in-state rivalry matchup against Western Michigan on Sunday, Aug. 31, at 1 p.m.
