Notes
• The Wolverines are 2-2 against ranked opponents this season and will take on its second top-fiver ranked opponent in Blue Jays. Maryland was also ranked No. 5 when the Wolverines faced them on March 16.
• Michigan ranks 10th nationally in scoring defense, giving up just 8.62 goals per game. The backline has forced 181 turnovers, with Grace Callahan ranked ninth in the conference with 18 caused turnovers.
• Offensively, Michigan has five players with 20 points or more and two with 50-plus points through 13 games. Seniors Jill Smith and Kaylee Dyer have tallied more than 50 points as Smith leads the team with 55 points (38 goals, 17 assists) and Dyer ranks second with 51 points (32 goals, 19 assists). Senior Julia Schwabe, graduate student Ava Class and junior Calli Norris have also recorded 20-plus points as Schwabe has a career-best 31 points and needs just four goals to tie her single-season best 20 goals. Class has also scored a career-best 22 goals and has 26 points, while Norris has doubled her goal total from a season ago with 20 and has five assists for 25 total points.
• Freshman Emma Burke outdrew opponents 24-14 in her two games this past week, winning 12 draw controls each against Eastern Michigan (April 2) and Oregon (April 6). The freshman outdrew both teams 12-7 in the Wolverine win. Burke ranks 16th nationally with 7.92 draw-control wins per game and is third among freshmen nationally in the draw control. The Glenview, Ill., native also ranks fourth in the Big Ten 95 draw-control wins this season and has four double-digit draw-control contests. Burke needs just 19 more draw-control wins to tie the single-season record of 114 set by Lily Montemarano last season.
• Senior Maya Rutherford broke the Michigan career records for games played and games started when she started her 71st career game against Oregon. Rutherford has started all 71 possible games in her career on the backline and has recorded 48 ground balls and 33 caused turnovers. Schwabe is one game behind Rutherford, having appeared in 70 career games and has missed just one game in her four-year career.
• Senior goalie Erin O'Grady is four career wins away from breaking the Michigan program record held by Mira Shane, who had 24 career victories. O'Grady is the second U-M goalie to win 20 games in the cage and owns the Michigan single-season record with 14 in 2024. The Massapequa, N.Y., native also ranks third in the U-M record book with 297 career saves and would become the third goalie to record 300 saves with five more stops. She ranks second nationally in save percentage (.541) in 11 games.
• Smith became the Michigan career points leader on a goal to kick off fourth-quarter scoring against Ohio State (March 27), recording seven points (three goals, four assists) -- all in the second half -- to bring her career total to 207. She passed Caitlin Muir, who recorded 203 points from 2018-22. Smith has since added to her tally and is at 218 career points. She also ranks fourth in program history with 166 draw-control wins.
• Michigan will play its final regular-season midweek contest on Thursday, April 17, when it takes on Northwestern in a 7 p.m. CT conference contest in Evanston, Ill. The game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
