STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The No. 17-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team saw its 2025 season come to a close as it finished third in the second session of the NCAA State College Regional with a 197.050 on Thursday evening (April 3) at Rec Hall.
Graduate student Carly Bauman won a share of the uneven bars regional title with a 9.950 and a stuck landing as she paced the Wolverines on the day. Freshman Sophia Diaz recorded a career-high 9.850 on the vault to earn the session's highest score.
Michigan (19-11) built on its scores through the first three routines, with Sophie Parenti starting with a 9.800 and Ava Jordan followed it up with a 9.850. Diaz stuck her landing and recorded a 9.900 before Bauman put together a strong routine with a stuck landing and a 9.950. U-M sat in third with a 49.275 after one rotation.
Kayli Boozer and Bauman led Michigan on the balance beam with 9.850s, while Parenti stuck her landing in the second rotation. Michigan carried a 98.350 at the halfway point of the meet.
The freshman duo of Diaz and Jahzara Ranger recorded 9.900s to lead Michigan in the third rotation, while Bauman and Peyton Davis earned matching 9.875s. Michigan took a 147.725 into the final rotation after scoring a 49.375 on floor exercise to remain third overall.
Davis led off the final rotation, vault, with a career-best 9.850, and Jordan matched in the second spot. Mulligan notched a 9.875 in the fifth spot before Diaz stuck her landing and notched the session-best 9.950 in the anchor spot to give U-M a rotation score of 49.325 to place third in the session.
Michigan will wait to find out its qualifiers, who will compete for NCAA individual titles in Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday, April 17.
