
Michigan-USC Set for B1G Tournament Quarterfinal Contest

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 12-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team (11-5, 5-3 Big Ten) earned the No. 3 seed in the 2025 Big Ten Conference Tournament and will take on No. 25 and sixth-seeded USC (10-6, 3-5 Big Ten) Wednesday (April 23) at 6 p.m. at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex on the campus of the University of Maryland. The contest will stream live on B1G+.
The winner of the Michigan/USC game will play in the Big Ten semifinals Friday (April 25) at 7:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network against the winner of the Maryland/Rutgers game. The Big Ten Tournament title game is set for Sunday (April 27) at 4 p.m. That game will also air on the Big Ten Network.
Notes
• The Wolverines rank No. 12 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll, moving up one spot heading into the postseason. Michigan will take on No. 25 USC for its seventh contest against a ranked opponent. Michigan is an even 3-3 against ranked opponents and defeated then-ranked No. 21 USC, 11-9, in the regular season.
• Michigan will make its seventh appearance in the Big Ten Tournament as it earned the No. 3 seed for the first time in program history. The Wolverines were the No. 4 seed in both 2023 and 2024.
• U-M's defense ranks sixth nationally in scoring defense giving up just 8.60 goals per game. The backline has forced 227 turnovers as Grace Callahan ranks seventh in the conference with 23 caused turnovers.
• Sophomore Emma Bradbury recorded her first career hat trick against Rutgers. The midfielder scored two of Michigan's three goals in the first quarter and added her third in the second quarter. This season, Bradbury has 13 goals, five assists and 14 draw control wins.
• Senior Jill Smith has scored in 33 consecutive games, which is the longest streak in Michigan history -- breaking her previous record of 22 games, spanning the 2022-23 season. Smith has scored in every game since Feb. 24, 2024. The Farmington Hills, Mich., native, is on a 33-game point streak, breaking Caitlin Muir's 32-game streak that spanned from April 13, 2019, to March 13, 2022.
• Senior Kaylee Dyer is three assists from tying the single-season assists record of 26 set by Caroline Davis in 2024. Dyer has 23 assists to lead the Wolverines and ranks second in career assists history with 65 helpers. Muir holds the Michigan record with 90 career assists.
• Freshman Emma Burke is the second Wolverine in program history to tally 100 draw controls in a single season as she has won 108 draws. Burke needs six draw controls to tie the single-season program record of 114 draw control wins set by Lily Montemarano in the 2024 campaign. Burke ranks seventh all-time in career draw control wins at Michigan. Currently, the freshman midfielder ranks third in the conference and is one of five players with 100-plus draw control wins. She ranks 20th nationally with 7.36 draw control wins per game.
• Senior Erin O'Grady is one win away from tying the Michigan career wins record set by Mira Shane from 2016-19. O'Grady has won 23 career games and ranks third all-time with 332 career saves. The senior goalie ranks second nationally with a .548 save percentage. O'Grady has produced 11 games with double-digit saves -- including a career-best 14 saves at Colorado.
• Senior Maya Rutherford broke the U-M career games played record and game started record when she started her 71st career game against Oregon. Rutherford has started all 74 possible games in her career on the backline for Michigan, and has recorded 50 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers in her time on defense. Along with Rutherford, Schwabe has appeared in 73 career games, missing just one game in her four-year career.
