
Michigan Set for Big Ten Quad Meet at Maryland

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 15-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team (8-3, 4-2 Big Ten) travels to the University of Maryland to compete in the Big Ten Quad Meet on Saturday (March 1) at 6 p.m. on Big Ten Network. The Wolverines will compete against No. 24 Illinois (7-7, 3-3 Big Ten), host Maryland (7-5, 3-3 Big Ten) and No. 13 Minnesota (7-1, 5-1 Big Ten) at the Xfinity Center.
Notes
• Michigan will start the Big Ten Quad Meet on the uneven bars and rotate to the balance beam before competing on floor exercise in the third rotation, ending the meet on the vault.
• The Wolverines are ranked inside the top 20 on all four individual events: vault (18th), uneven bars (14th), beam (11th) and floor (16th). Graduate student Carly Bauman ranks inside the top 20 in all three of her events -- 15th on uneven bars, 16th on floor and 19th on beam, while Kayli Boozer cracked the top 25 on the beam, coming in at No. 24.
• Bauman posted a nearly perfect uneven bars routine against UCLA, scoring a career-high 9.975 to earn the title. The West Des Moines, Iowa, native also took home a share of the beam title with a 9.900 and completed her trio of scores of 9.900 or higher with a team-best 9.925 on floor for a third-place finish. For her efforts, she earned her third Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors on Tuesday (Feb. 25).
• Graduate student Jenna Mulligan stuck her vault against UCLA and scored a 9.950 for her second straight title on the apparatus this season.
• Jahzara Ranger was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Tuesday after placing in the top five in three events against No. 2 UCLA. She tied a career-best 9.900 on floor in the anchor position to tie for fourth overall. Ranger changed the momentum on the beam for Michigan, scoring a 9.875 in the fifth spot to tie for fifth overall and tied for fourth on the vault with a 9.850. The award is the first of Ranger's career.
• Boozer has started to make a name for herself in her sophomore season, winning three event titles on the beam, including scoring a career-best 9.950 against Nebraska. The Texarkana, Texas, native also competes on floor for Michigan and notched her first 9.900 against Ohio State to place second and matched it a week later against Nebraska.
• Michigan scored a season-best 49.300 on the vault and a season-high 49.400 on floor against UCLA. Mulligan paced the Wolverines on the vault with her 9.950, while Ranger and Sophia Diaz earned 9.850s in the first rotation. On floor, Bauman led U-M with a 9.925 and Ranger recorded a 9.900. Boozer rounded out the top three Wolverine scores with a 9.875.
• Fans will have two more chances to catch the Wolverines in action at Crisler Center. Michigan will host one final regular-season meet against No. 17 Alabama on Saturday, March 15, at 5:45 p.m. before welcoming fans for three sessions of the Big Ten Championships on March 21-22.
