ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team moved to 9-0 in Flip for Chip Meets as it defeated No. 20 Georgia, 197.075-196.300, at Crisler Center Friday night (March 8).
Graduate student Gabby Wilson recorded her 100th career routine of 9.900 or better as she scored a 9.975 to win the floor title and placed second on the uneven bars with a 9.925. Wilson also won the all-around title with a 39.500. Along with Wilson, senior Reyna Guggino captured her second vault title of the season and both Jenna Mulligan and Jacey Vore shared the beam title with matching 9.850s.
Mulligan earned a career-high 9.875 on the vault in the two spot and Guggino followed it up with a 9.925 to pace the Maize and Blue to a 49.300 in the first rotation to lead Georgia, who scored a 48.650 on the uneven bars. Guggino won the vault title and Mulligan and Wilson tied for second with matching 9.875s.
Vore started off the uneven bars with a 9.875 and Wilson scored a team-best 9.925 with a stuck landing as U-M went to the third rotation leading the Bulldogs 98.550-97.600. Wilson finished second overall on the uneven bars, while Carly Bauman tied for third with a 9.875.
Michigan was led by Mulligan and Vore, who shared the beam title with all five of Georgia's gymnasts as the seven scored matching 9.850s and the Wolverines went into the final rotation with a comfortable 147.600-147.050 advantage.
Mulligan was solid in the leadoff with a 9.850 on the beam and Vore matched in the four spot as the Wolverines went into the final rotation leading Georgia, 147.600-147.050.
Wilson was nearly perfect on the floor with a 9.975 and Sierra Brooks placed third with a 9.925 as the Maize and Blue captured the win over Georgia.
Michigan will conclude the 2024 regular season and will honor its seven seniors Friday (March 15) against Denver at 6:45 p.m. at Crisler Center.
