
Maize and Blue Set to Host Silverston Invitational, Run DMR at Notre Dame

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team is set for the final two regular-season meets of indoor competition, hosting the Silverston Invitational on Friday (Feb. 16) at 4 p.m. inside the U-M Indoor Track Building before sending a distance medley relay team to South Bend, Ind., for the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Saturday (Feb. 17) at noon.
Notes:
• U-M is coming off a three-site weekend, with the team splitting between the Windy City Invitational, the Tiger Paw Invitational and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
• Three Wolverines posted record-breaking performances, with Dubem Amene setting the program 400-meter dash record (45.75 seconds), Tom Brady breaking the 5,000 meter run record (13:24.16), and Nick Foster setting the mile run record (3:54.48). Both Amene and Brady improved upon standards they previously held, while Foster's performance broke a record that stood for nearly 20 years (Nate Brannen, 3:55.11).
• The Maize and Blue finished 4-5-6 in the mile at the Windy City Invitational, with Trent McFarland (4:02.82) placing fourth, Riley Flemington (4:03.70) placing fifth, and Ian Hill placing sixth with a personal best of 4:04.62. Michael Hancock also set a personal-best time (4:05.96) in a ninth-place finish.
• Caleb Jarema (7:59.12) and Jozef Meyers (8:08.54) set personal bests to finish eighth and 13th, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run.
• Jack Kelke saw a personal-best time of 14:16.95 to finish third while Kyler McNatt finished fourth (14:19.00) in the 5,000-meter open run. In the 5,000-meter invitationla run, Owen MacKenzie set a personal best of 13:54.68 and finished second. Luke Venhuizen finished sixth with a time of 14:13.99.
• The triple jumpers had a strong performance, with Berachiah Ajala finishing second with a mark of 15.33 meters (50 feet, 3.5 inches) and Tianhao Wei finishing fourth with a mark of 15.16m (49 feet, 9 inches).
• The throwers also saw a solid day, with Eli Winter's personal best of 20.57m (67 feet, 6 inches) earning him a sixth-place finish in the weight throw. Zane Forist saw a season-best mark of 18.94m (62 feet, 1.75 inches) for a 16th-place finish and Jake Steslicki set a personal-best mark of 18.90m (62 feet, 0.25 inches) to finish 17th. Winter's mark comes in at No. 6 in program history while Steslicki's comes in at No. 9.
