
Brown Named to CSC Academic All-America First Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Miles Brown of the University of Michigan men's cross country and track and field teams was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America first team on Tuesday (July 14).
He is the eighth Wolverine to earn Academic All-America honors this academic year, joining Allison Jacobs (volleyball), Brady Kendall (women's swimming and diving), Letitia Sim (women's swimming and diving), Piper Charney (women's tennis), Mert Oral (men's tennis), Logan Roeder (rowing) and Akshay Puri (men's gymnastics). This is Brown's first career citation.
Brown set the collegiate record in the 600-meter run (1:14.67) at the Big Ten Indoor Championship, picking up gold in the event as well as the distance medley relay. The graduate student was part of the program-record DMR team (9:14.80), the No. 3 time on the NCAA all-time all-conditions list, that qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships and finished fourth for first team All-America honors.
A seven-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Brown set the outdoor 800-meter run program record (1:44.68) and is tied for No. 19 on the NCAA performers list. The Novi, Mich., native finished seventh in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for first team All-America honors. Brown is pursuing a master's degree in chemical biology.
