
Four Wolverines Medal at USATF U20, Canadian Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Nine current and former members of the University of Michigan track and field team competed at the Canadian Outdoor Championships at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility in Ottawa, Ontario, Wednesday through Sunday (June 17-21) and the USATF U20 Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., from Thursday through Monday (June 18-22), with four bringing home medals.
At the USATF U20 Championships, the Wolverines picked up three medals. Quincy Isaac won the long jump with a mark of 7.71 meters (25 feet, 3.5 inches), earning the mark on his first attempt. Henry Dixon won the 1,500-meter run (3:48.27), recording the fastest final lap in the field with a split of 54.52 seconds, and Jack Bidwell took second in the 5,000-meter run (14:13.15) to come just 0.07 seconds from gold. The trio has been selected to compete at the U20 World Championships on Aug. 5-9 at Hayward Field.
Emmry Ross won her heat in the 800-meter run prelims (2:06.11) to advance to the finals, where she finished fourth (2:04.53). In the 400-meter hurdles, Sydney Kuhn and Sydney Glee advanced to the finals and finished fifth (58.20) and seventh (59.39), respectively.
At the Canadian Championships, rising senior John O'Reilly finished second (1:47.58) in the 800-meter run finals after placing ninth (1:49.10) in the prelims in his Canadian Championships debut.
Aurora Rynda placed fourth (2:03.34) in the 800-meter run finals, winning her heat with a time of 2:06.98 in the prelims. Savannah Sutherland won her heat in the 400-meter hurdles prelims (58.63) to advance to the finals before withdrawing from the meet.
