
U-M Heads to Atlanta for Georgia Tech Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 17-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team (2-0, 1-0 Big Ten) will travel for the first time in the 2024-25 season when it heads to Atlanta, Ga., for the Georgia Tech Invitational. The three-day meet starts on Friday (Nov. 22) and runs through Sunday (Nov. 24). Preliminaries will start at 10:00 a.m., with finals getting underway at 5:00 p.m.
Notes
• The Wolverines have started the season with a 2-0 record, defeating Wisconsin on Oct. 19 before downing Oakland on Nov. 8 by a score of 202-92.
• Sophomore Jaeddan Gamilla shined against the Golden Grizzlies, winning three individual events to propel the Maize and Blue to a meet win. Gamilla's winning time of 2:01.06 in the 200-yard breaststroke marked a new season best.
• Bence Szabados has won both of his swims in the 50-yard freestyle this season against Oakland and Wisconsin. Szabados' best time of 19.73 ranks fifth in the Big Ten in 2024-25.
• Jon Jøntvedt leads the conference in the 1650-yard freestyle, posting a mark of 15:14.06 against Oakland and earning an NCAA 'B' standard time.
• Lorne Wigginton continues to impress in his freshman season, taking first in the 200-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle against Oakland. Wigginton's 200 butterfly time of 1:47.30 ranks 19th in the Big Ten.
• Colin Geer enters the midseason meet with momentum after winning the 200-yard freestyle with a mark of 1:38.00, good for 25th in the conference.
• Cameron Gammage leads the way for the Michigan divers, owning the eighth-best score in the Big Ten in the one-meter dive at 358.80.
• Michigan will take on host Georgia Tech, Auburn, and Florida State. Auburn is ranked No. 15 in the CSCAA poll. Georgia Tech and Florida State check in at No. 19 and 24, respectively.
