
Michigan Wins Four Events at CSL Meet

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University of Michigan swimming and diving team finished fourth with 302.5 points on Friday (Oct. 9) at the College Swimming League (CSL) meet at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. The four-team competition featured Michigan, Louisville, Virginia and host Tennessee. The CSL format combines men's and women's results into one team score and includes traditional swimming events alongside elimination-style Skins and Super Skins races.
The Wolverines were led by Lorne Wigginton, Bella Sims and Colin Geer, who combined for four individual event victories and multiple top-three finishes.
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week Wigginton continued his strong start to the season, capturing first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:14.76. He added a runner-up finish in the 200-yard butterfly (1:42.24) and placed third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:34.21).
On the women's side, Sims highlighted U-M's efforts with a victory in the 200-yard individual medley, touching the wall in 1:53.77. She also secured second place in the 100-yard individual medley (52.29) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (51.46).
Geer added two first-place finishes for the Maize and Blue, winning the 100-yard individual medley in 47.13 and the 100-yard butterfly in 45.86.
Antoine Sauve contributed a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 42.70. Freshman Gilaine Ma also earned a podium finish, placing third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.43.
Michigan saw additional strong performances from Lexi Greenhawt and Hannah Bellard. Greenhawt recorded a time of 51.36 in the 100-yard backstroke, while Bellard touched the wall in 1:51.39 in the 200-yard butterfly.
Michigan capped the evening with a second-place finish in the women's Super Skins, finishing behind host Tennessee in the elimination-style event.
The Maize and Blue will return to action Friday (Nov. 6) when they travel to Rochester, Mich., to face Oakland. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
