ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team fell 207-61 to Pittsburgh in a dual meet on Friday (Oct. 9) at Canham Natatorium.
The Maize and Blue swam to early success in the individual events, as Jaden Ficklen finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a 1:40.56. Antoine Destang also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 49.08 seconds.
Freshman Lucas Young was victorious in multiple events. He finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:01.12) and then again in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:50.94.
Destang captured another runner-up time, finishing in 49.17 in a tight 100-yard butterfly race. The swim events were rounded out by Ficklen, Destang, Oliver Shao and Young in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:09.15.
Emmitt Reesor scored first in the men's three-meter diving with 382.35 points, while Samuel McCaffrey finished second with 362.33 points. Archie Biggin claimed the men's platform with 380.55 points.
Michigan's men's and women's swimming teams will compete together tonight in the second round of College Swimming League competition in Knoxville, Tenn. The meet begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
