
U-M Set to Host Wisconsin in Big Ten Battle at Canham

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 15-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team will open the dual-meet season with a matchup with No. 20-ranked Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 18-19) at 4 p.m. and 10 a.m., respectively, inside Canham Natatorium.
Notes
• The matchup against Wisconsin will mark the first two-day dual meet at home under head coach Matt Bowe. The Wolverines fell in their lone home dual meet in 2023-24 to Big Ten champion Indiana.
• U-M started the 2024-25 season at the Be Better; Invitational, honoring former Wolverine Ian Miskelley, and posted multiple first-place finishes in the unscored event.
• Jack Wilkening opened his junior season with a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 48.07 seconds. Wilkening also posted a backstroke split of 22.07 to help the Wolverines to first in the 200-yard medley relay.
• Fellow junior Tyler Ray took first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 200 medley relay. Ray returns to Ann Arbor after earning All-Big Ten second-team honors last season.
• Bence Szabados took first in the lone event he competed in at the Be Better; Invitational, winning the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:00.60.
• Freshman Jon Jøntvedt made his Michigan debut with a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.82. The native of Norway comes to Ann Arbor after competing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
• Cameron Gammage is set to make his season debut after being named the Big Ten Diver to Watch prior to the season.
• Michigan leads 47-5 in the all-time series against Wisconsin, but dropped the most-recent meeting in 2023, 185-168.
