
Voit Earns Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America Honor

TUCSON, Ariz. -- University of Michigan baseball freshman Mitch Voit was named as a multiple position athlete to the Collegiate Baseball 2023 Freshman All-American team, the organization announced on Wednesday (June 7).
Voit started 51 of the 56 games at third base this season with 50 hits, 28 runs and 32 RBI. He added seven home runs good for second on the team and the fifth most ever by a Michigan freshman. Voit also pitched 36.0 innings across 19 appearances with one start. He struck out 25 batters while allowing just 13 earned runs.
In his first career start, Voit pitched 5.2 innings earning the win against Indiana in the Big Ten Tournament. He compiled a record of 4-1 on the season and added five saves, the fifth most by a Michigan freshman in school history.
Voit is the first U-M player to earn a Collegiate Baseball Freshman team honor since Willie Weiss in 2019 and the first since Jacob Cronenworth at the multiple position spot.
