
No. 1 Michigan Sweeps Event Titles to Win Flip for Chip Meet

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 1-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team swept the event titles to earn a 197.600-195.875 victory over Penn State on Sunday night (Feb. 13) in the seventh annual Flip for Chip meet at Crisler Center.
The Wolverines are now 7-0 in Flip for Chip meets after the win over the Nittany Lions.
Junior Sierra Brooks took home her second all-around title of the season with a 39.675, while taking home shares of the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise titles. Senior Natalie Wojcik earned a piece of the vault and uneven bars titles with a 9.950 and a 9.925, respectively.
In her first career appearance in the beam lineup freshman Jacey Vore earned the title with a 9.925 and Abby Heiskell shared the floor title with Brooks with matching career-best 9.975s.
Michigan (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) posted three scores of 9.925 or higher in the opening rotation on vault as Brooks and Wojcik earned matching 9.950s to earn the title. U-M scored a 49.525 to lead Penn State (1-4, 0-4 Big Ten) after the first rotation.
Moving to the uneven bars, the Wolverines closed out the rotation with four straight scores of 9.900 or better as Brooks and Wojcik once again led the field with matching 9.925s. Vore earned her third score of 9.900 or higher this season with a 9.900, while Gabby Wilson also earned a 9.900 as the Wolverines took a 99.025-98.000 advantage at the halfway point of the meet.
After anchoring the uneven bars lineup, Vore led off in her first career appearance on the beam and scored a 9.925 that held for the event-title win. Following Vore, Wilson notched a 9.900 as U-M led 148.150-147.000 with one rotation to go against the Nittany Lions.
Heiskell pumped up the Wolverines with a career-best 9.975 on the floor before Brooks followed it up with a matching 9.975 to put up a career-high in the anchor spot to close out the Michigan victory.
The Wolverines will be back in action Friday, (Feb. 18) to participate in the Big Five Meet at the Elevate the Stage event in Toledo, Ohio. The meet is set to start at 7 p.m. with Michigan competing against Illinois, Iowa, Maryland and Ohio State.
